This year on March 5th I participated in the Spring Semester UGA Day of Service. The UGA Day of Service is put together by Volunteer UGA committee. Anyone can sign up to participate. On that Saturday they fed us breakfast and then we were separated into several groups and departed to our various destinations. Some of the places people went were animal shelter, soup kitchens, recording for the blind, etc. My place of service was a park in Oconee County that had an area which used to be a dump site. So outside in the rain (not complaining) we picked up 20-30 year old trash. Some of the trash that was half way buried in the dirt was, lawn chairs, carpet, cans, glass bottles, a box fan etc. It was a little crazy. After our time was up I felt as though we did a lot, but when you look at the area it looked like we hardly put a dent in it, which was a little frustrating. However I was grateful for the opportunity to serve.

The beginning area of the site (see buried tire)
Many rusted cans
Scary old baby doll head
The mess we had to leave....
