For Special Olympics UGA I participated in their annual SOAR race (Special Olympics Annual Race). The night before (Friday) volunteers, including myself, spent the night in the gymnasium of an elementary school with the athletes. It was a great opportunity for me to get to know the athletes better. Then the next morning was the race. I ran a modified track of the race with my buddy Jack (changed his name). I assumed that we would walk the race, but nope, he ran the whole thing! The experience was very rewarding!
