4th of July

Since Independence Day fell on a Sunday this year we decided to have a little get-together at our place and then walk to the fireworks at Bishop park. This was the first time that Jared and I have spent the 4th of July in Athens because we usually go watch the firework at Centennial Park in Atlanta.
So on the 4th The University Branch had a "break the fast" potluck at the ward building and then we hosted dessert and games at our house afterward. Then around 8:45p.m. we started to head down to the park, but realized people parking and sitting right down the street from us at our neighborhood park, so we figured we would set up there. We could see the firework perfectly...right through the trees. All this time we had been going to Atlanta while there was a party just 15 paces away...oh well now we know!

For this cake I used a lemon mix with lemon curd in the middle, cream cheese frosting and seasonal fruit on top
