I recently had a post about the rodeo in town and the "lovely" southern family we had the privilege of sitting behind which I thought was good, but then then this happened the next week. So I am driving on the 129, *(which takes you through Jefferson and Jackson County) to pick up Katie from school. For those of you that don't know about 129...they have been in the process of expanding this approx. 30 mile very busy road for over a year now and it still is ONLY one lane in some parts. So I am driving normally and I'm shocked when I have to come to a complete stop where I am stuck in traffic. Normally this road has a little traffic because of all the construction, but never have I been completely stopped and I should know, I drive it three times a week. So I look ahead thinking there must be a horrible accident and no I see a HOUSE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. Of course my first thought was The Wizard of Oz theory. Thought.....Man I must have slept really good last night to not hear the tornado that swept through and picked up this house that has landed in the middle of the road. Well that theory ended when I looked a little better and noticed that it was moving. Here comes the "Only in the South" part. Who ever was the genius that choose to move a house on this road at this time was very dumb because two schools are located on this road and yes it was around 2:30 so every mother was going to pick their child up. Then as you can see in the pictures, they turned on a road which is connects to another highway, which is not under construction and has two lanes, which they could have taken instead of 129. Then why would you move a house in the first place? As far as I know it is very expensive and you might as well build a new one. Lastly, come to find out later the road it turned on has a bridge that is VERY old and or course it got stuck on it for two hours and they has to shut down the whole road. OK I could keep going, but I think you get the point....only in the south...
The complete stop, the traffic, the house in the distance
The evidence of how small the lanes are and yes they had to move all the construction cones out and back in while the house went down the road
The house trying to turn (this took 15 minutes, no joke!)
After the turn, me driving by, frusted and taking a picture
2 Thoughts:
absolutely hilarious!
that is hilarious. that house looks a little big to be heading down the road!
